This study can help women who are about to begin life in ministry.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"a-spacing-base\"\u003eIf you’re serving in a mentor role for this study, you may be feeling a lack of confidence. Being labeled a “mentor” probably makes you acutely aware of all your weaknesses and failings. Just because you have greater experience doesn’t mean you have ministry life all figured out, and that’s okay. Your mentee doesn’t need you to teach her to be just like you; she needs you to help her become more like Christ.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"a-spacing-base\"\u003eAs a mentor, you can best serve your mentee in three ways:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"a-spacing-base\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul class=\"a-unordered-list a-vertical\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-list-item\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-text-italic\"\u003ePray\u003c\/span\u003e. Seek the Lord’s help as you help your mentee. Ask him, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer” (Ps. 19:14).\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-list-item\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-text-italic\"\u003ePrepare\u003c\/span\u003e. Complete the readings and activities before the meeting, and come ready to discuss. Consider not only what personal experiences you can share with your mentee but what truths from God’s Word and aspects of his character will be an encouragement to her.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-list-item\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"a-text-italic\"\u003eLove\u003c\/span\u003e. Your mentee will probably tell you her fears and struggles related to ministry life. Listen attentively and assure her of your love—and also remind her of the Lord’s love. If she asks you to hold her accountable for sin, be faithful in this. If she asks you to pray for her weaknesses, be sure to do so. If she tells you about her growth in grace, rejoice with her.
