If we do not have a clear biblical understanding of what happened when we were converted we will be forever struggling in our spiritual life. A sinner can be saved without a full understanding of salvation. This is because God is sovereign in salvation, he can and often does, overrule our deficient understanding. With a basic conviction of personal sin and guilt, and the faith that Jesus is the only saviour, a sinner can be delivered from that sin and given new life in Christ.
