"The contents of this booklet were first written some years ago as a series of articles for 'The Messenger' (the Young People's magazine of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ireland). It is our conviction that a shared grasp of the Biblical basis of Presbyterian church government is in the interests of the unity of God's people. It should also constrain gratitude in our hearts that our loving Redeemer, in the midst of all the glorious mercies bestowed upon his people, has included a form of church-government revealed in Holy Scripture for our good."
